Amber is a fossilized tree resin that is primarily found in Mexico and around the Baltic Sea.  The amber from the Baltic Sea is older and contains more of the succinic acid in the outer layers.  Even unripe gooseberries and rhubarb stalks, which are the richest in the acid, contain a thousand times less of the acid than the Baltic amber's succinite which is a natural source of asprin. Amber is a great ally for those with digestive weaknesses in the body or rheumatism.  It can be used to help people wean off of alcohol and other addictive substances, and even lessens the effects and damage of years of alcohol use.  Amber was used alot in ancient times as an anti-bacterial agent, such as burning some during surgeries or birth.  You can make an oil or tincture from amber, the oil is great for rubbing into joints affected by rheumatism and the tincture taken internally for digestive problems.  A tincture of amber has been also used to dissolve gall stones in the body.
